Anthony L. Potter, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on November 18, 1946, in Hurlock, Maryland, Anthony lived a life rich in love, laughter, service, and unwavering strength. Those who knew him will forever remember his quick wit, warm smile, and the way he could turn any moment into a joke worth repeating. He was a friendly, funny, and wise soul who carried a deep love for his family and found his greatest joy in being surrounded by them—especially his grandchildren, with whom he was endlessly playful, patient, and proud.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Anthony was the heart of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Yupha, who stood beside him through every chapter of his life. Together they built a strong, loving family that will carry his spirit forward.
Anthony is also survived by his cherished children: Leena (Maitree) Raktham, Anna (Christopher) Jackson, and Anthony (Natashae) Potter, Jr. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Khanoon, Nai Sonai, Darius, Alivia, DaeJanae, Kianna, and Amaya, and his great-grandchildren: Omari, Mai’Lee, Anari, JaCai, and Aura. Each of them carries pieces of his humor, strength, generosity, and love.
Anthony lived a proud life of military service. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 25, 1966, beginning a distinguished 26-year career that shaped him into the strong, disciplined, and selfless man his family and friends admired. Retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant (MSGT) in 1991, he earned numerous honors, including:
Air Force Commendation Medal
Air Force Good Conduct Medal
Air Force Longevity Service Award
National Defense Service Medal
Vietnam Service Medal
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal
His dedication to his country was matched only by the dedication he gave to the people he loved.
Anthony had an adventurous spirit and a deep love of the outdoors. An avid camper—whether in a tent or the back of his truck—he found peace under open skies. He was a bank fisherman, a deer hunter, and a natural outdoorsman who was happiest with a fishing pole, or a campfire glowing nearby.
A skilled do-it-yourself craftsman, Anthony could fix or create just about anything. Whether re-upholstering a bar stool with a shower curtain or filming precious moments on his old camcorder, he poured creativity and care into everything he touched.
Anthony also had a soft heart for animals, especially his beloved dogs, Grizz and Kisses (“Kissy Face”). He loved a good game of pool, classic Western films like Gunsmoke and John Wayne, comedies like Sanford and Son, and he filled his home with the sounds of country legends—Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Conway Twitty. On Sunday mornings, he enjoyed watching Joel Osteen, finding comfort and inspiration in his messages.
Anthony Potter will be remembered as a strong fighter, a selfless giver, and a man who always put others before himself. His humor, kindness, and gentle wisdom brightened the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, the love he shared and the lessons he taught will continue to guide his family for generations.
