

April was born July 25, 1945, in Hammond, Indiana, to the late Richard Janka and Luella Gruszka (Malkowski). She was an only child. She graduated from Thornton Fractional High School in Calumet City, IL. She pursued her bachelor degree at IU Northwest and received her Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Memphis, TN. Her passion was education and had a long rewarding career mainly working as a Special Education teacher, at John F. Miller school, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
April was a very active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and spent much of her free time volunteering in the SEAS pantry to help those in need. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She was also a member of the Mayflower Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, LV Senior Travel Club, Setons Singles group and an Eastern Star in Jackson, TN and Las Vegas, NV.
In addition to her parents, April was preceded in death by her son Jonathan Miller and her husband Thomas (Sonny) Watson.
Popo is survived by her daughter Beth Del Fante, husband Tracy Del Fante of Las Vegas, NV, and son Scott Miller, wife Elah Miller of Daly City, CA. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Audrey Del Fante and Sebastien Miller. She also had three great grandchildren that she adored -Olivia, Ryder and Jaxon.
A visitation for April will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Palm Mortuary - Cheyenne, 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89129. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Bunkers Memory Gardens, 7251 W Lone Mountain Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89129.
