Barbara Raquel Tavarez

Barbara Raquel Tavarez passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 45. Born on December 20, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Barbara graduated from Bonanza High School and attended University Nevada Las Vegas. A long time resident of Las Vegas, she loved calling the valley “home.”

Barbara dedicated 20 years of her professional life to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, where she served with distinction and commitment in areas like the Clark County Detention Center, Evidence Vault, and Safe Neighborhoods Bureau. Barbara was well known for her passion for cats, earning her the endearing title of a "caring cat lady" among those who knew her well. She was a loving Aunt and committed daughter.

She is survived by her father, Mark Tavarez, and his wife Vicki Tavarez; her mother, Teresa Knapper Harris, and her husband Keith Harris; her sister, Michelle Tavarez; and her brother, Tyler Tavarez; as well as six nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on February 26, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Palm Northwest Mortuary and Cemetery, located at 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm followed by her graveside service also at Palm Northwest Mortuary and Cemetery.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.
