Beverly Jo Squires Muir passed on to love ones in Heaven July 15, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. Beverly was born on March 2, 1927, in Alameda, CA, to Richard Kenneth and Ena Ahlbom Squires. At age two, she was awarded first prize for the prettiest infant in Oakland, CA. She lived in many locations growing up but settled again in Oakland. At age 16, (pictured) she met her eternal love, James Webster Muir, and married three years later in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They celebrated 70 years of marriage on May 25, 2016. Beverly & James had two children, Melinda and William. Despite her active life, she always put her family first. She loved to talk and laugh with her family. Beverly is survived by her brother and sister, husband, two children, nine grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Though she was an incredibly loving mother, she was much more than a housewife. Many said she was ahead of her time. Beverly was an Elementary School Secretary, Realtor, and Counselor for Seniors. She loved and was skilled in the arts and shared her talents as painter, sculptor, teacher, designer, furniture maker, architect, writer, poet, gourmet chef and avid genealogist. She had a passion for traveling throughout the world. Beverly spent most of her life near the ocean. She loved to swim, relax on the sand, and hunt for shells. The ocean was often the subject of her paintings. It was her peaceful place in this world. She held true to the values of her church and magnified her many leadership positions. She was universally loved and people were naturally drawn to her genuine friendly and outgoing personality. She raised four foster children, including Vietnamese refugees. Beverly was a compassionate person who opened her home and heart to many. Beverly bridged lives past and present. She bound generations together through her written word. She compiled, wrote and preserved her life history for many who preceded her and those she loved. This gift will live on for generations.
