

Celedonia Ledesma was born on November 10, 1915 in Naguilian, La Union, Philippines. She was the fifth of seven children born to Gelasio Laygo and Nicolosa Mendoza Laygo. She completed her education in Tarlac, Tarlac, Philippines. In 1934, she married the late Ricardo Feliciano Ledesma. After losing her high school sweetheart she relocated to Naguilian, La Union where she raised their five children Avelino, Cecilia, Ernesto, Elenita and Ruben. In 1972, at the age of 57 she immigrated to the United States where she lived with her son Ernesto and his family in Vallejo, CA. They relocated to San Francisco in 1976. In 1979 she resided with her daughter Elenita and remained in San Francisco until 2008 before they relocated to Las Vegas, NV close to her two sons and their families, Avelino and Ernesto. Celedonia was a wise, strong and independent woman. For all of those who had the honor and privilege to know her, they were rewarded with her spirit of kindness and generosity. She was a loving and compassionate mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother. At the age of 99 years old Celedonia passed away peacefully in her sleep after suffering a massive stroke. For fifteen days her strength and stamina allowed her to be surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her five children, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
