

Cleata Elizabeth Barnes Langford, better known as "Bunnie", was born July 4th, 1940 in NYC to parents Cleatus Barnes and Ruth Wolfe Barnes. She attended PS 5 Elementary School, JHS 136, where she was the Valedictorian of her senior class, and graduated high school from Julia Richmond in 1957.
After High School, She immediately went to work for the New York City Dept. of Welfare and worked there until August of 1959 when she married an Air Force man by the name of Ronald Langford. He was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming so off she went with her new husband, and in July 1960, they were blessed with their first child Michelle. Upon Ronnie's honorable discharge, they returned back to New York to live. The family began to grow: Debra, born is 1962 and Darren, born in 1965. For 17 years Bunnie took on the role as a stay-at-home mom, and raised her family. Bunnie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Queens where her children attended Sunday School. She later became a Sunday School teacher and enjoyed it very much.
In 1977, Bunnie re-entered the workforce. For 14 years she worked for the New York Bank for savings/ Gold Dome Bank working her way up from a Secretary to the Assistant Manager of the priority Banking Financial Service Dept. She loved her job and forgerd many friendships which she still has today. Leaving only when the bank was sold, she then went to State Farm Insurance for 3 years.
In 1995, Ronnie and Bunnie retired and moved to Las Vegas. But Bunnie wasn't through. She unretired herself after a year and worked an additional 10 years at Nevada Pacific Dental. She became a member of the Graphic Communications Union, District Council #2 AFL-CIO and was elected Shop Steward 8 years straight.
Her favorite past times were doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles, playing solitaire on the computer and going to the casino to play poker and video slot machines.
Bunnie lost her battle for life on December 16th 2024. She lived a very fruitful life and enjoyed every minute she got to spend time with friends and family.
Left to mourn her is her three children Michelle, Debra, and Darren; three grandchildren Christopher, Tiara and Anthony; 7 great-grandchildren: Zakai, Montez, Carilee, Caroline, Elijah, Isaiah, and Jaylen; sister in law, Rita Langford; nephews, Jeffrey Jones, Nikko Barnes; niece Jackie jones; God Daughters: Cheryl Russell and PHyllis Richardson. And a host of extended family and friends. While we mourn Bunnie's passing, we must remember her living. For it is there we have wonderful memories to share and will remain with us forever.
A memorial service for Cleata will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - South Jones, 1600 South Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89146.
