Conrado was born on February 2, 1924, in Lipata Minglanilla in Cebu, Philippines. He was the Eldest of seven children of Fernando and Patricia Manalang. He was predeceased by his wife, Milagros, daughter, Teresita, son, Roberto; and was survived by his son, William (Evelyn) and daughter, Dina (Bruce).
Conrado was a post-war volunteer and an accomplished overseas foreign worker. His career started in Guam in 1946. It was followed by his service in Okinawa (1950), South Korea (1958-1963), the U.S. Army Camp in Vietnam (1966-1973), and Bahrain (1976-1978). In 1989, he migrated to the United States and settled in Southern California. In 1994, he relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada to be closer to family.
Conrado was a Freemason and an active member of Shriners International at Saigon Lodge Charter No. 188. Conrado loved playing basketball and was an avid bowler. During holidays and times of celebration, he would gather his family together to join him in bowling, and would even offer a dollar to his great-grandchildren for every strike or spare they got. He enjoyed being physically active & working out at his own pace.
Along with being physically fit, Conrado also had the pleasure to eat some of the best food his community had to offer. Oftentimes, he would take his family out to eat and made sure everyone was well fed. This was a way for him to assemble his loved ones and make special memories with one another. It was clear that if someone was going to visit Conrado, it’s best to come with an empty stomach, because he was always willing to share a meal with others.
Singing karaoke was a pastime for Conrado, he was very fond of Kundiman (traditional Filipino love songs) music. Not only did he admire songs by Ruben Tagalog, Ric Manrique Jr., and Diomedes Maturan, he also loved to sing along to them.
Conrado will be most remembered for his kindness. He was a generous gentleman to all and never failed to do what was asked and expected. Honored is the wisdom he possessed along his noble acts as he provided good guidance and assistance from afar. His spirit lives on as fondly remembered by his only living sister, Aurora, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four nephews, and seven nieces.
