David Warren Spitler

Dave W. Spitler (1956-2015) died October 22, surrounded by family and friends. Dave was born August 30, 1956, in Owosso, Michigan to Frances and Warren Spitler. He attended Owosso High School and graduated in 1974. He attended the University of Michigan earning a Bachelor’s degree in education. Upon arriving in Las Vegas Dave embarked on a 30 year career in the Clark County School district. He obtained a Masters in Administration from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. He taught elementary education for several years before becoming an assistant principal. He ended his teaching career serving as an administrator at H. M Smith, Clarence Piggot, and M. J. Christiansen Elementary Schools. Retiring from CCSD Dave continued his service by acting as a long term administrative substitutes at many different school locations. He also spent his retirement traveling with his family and he enjoyed spending time with his grandson.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 31 years Suzanne (Las Vegas); son Tyler (Nina); adoring grandson, Bryson; Mother, Frances; Sister Patricia Spitler- Steele (Gayle); Niece Janelle Kay Steele-Elkins (Mark) Nephew; Scott Steele( Tiffany), numerous cousins , and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his father Warren Spitler.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to all those who been so supportive during this time. Dave will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be held Friday.
