Deborah Ann Smith Finley, called “Debbie” by her family and friends, was born in Watts in South Los Angeles, California on January 26, 1957, and along with her younger sister Karen Smith – was raised in love by her parents James and Donna Richardson in Santa Ana, California.
Debbie attended Monte Vista Elementary School, Smedley Middle School and Santa Ana Valley High School – all in Santa Ana, California. She dreamed of becoming a fashion model but instead became the mother of four children – three daughters and a son. Debbie considered her children her greatest accomplishment in life. They were her happiness, her purpose, and her being.
Debbie was always the life of the party and she had the most beautiful smile that would light up a room. She loved big family dinners and would often call her Dad and ask for “a bean fix” – his special blend of navy, pinto and lima beans – along with her favorites: fried chicken and oxtails!
Having lived a long and full life, Debbie sadly passed away on July 10, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was very much loved and will be terribly missed by her many friends and extended family.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother Donna Richardson on August 10, 2022 and her oldest daughter, Coyale Walker on March 4, 2023.
Debbie leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Robert Finley, daughters, Jerri Walker Jenkins (Ronald) of Oklahoma City, OK; Donna Smith and son, Isaiha Wilson of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Karen Smith of Henderson, NV; father, James Richardson of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Jonae, Jonavin, Jaylen, and Jaylonnie; great grandchildren Halo, Harmony, and King; and a host of extended family and friends.
