

Douglas Ray Wright of Las Vegas, NV passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday February 25th, at the age of 69. Doug was born in Burlington, CO and raised in Kanorado, KS. He is the Son of Dorothy (Nagel) Evans (94) and the late Bill Wright. He graduated from Goodland High School and Colorado Air Tech with his AP mechanics.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Melanie Peterson Wright of Las Vegas, NV, daughters Lauren Wright-Dellipoala (Vincenzo) of Newport Beach, CA, and Kathleen Wright, partner Jacob Hallum, of Venice Beach, CA. He is also survived by his mom Dorothy of Littleton, CO, and sisters Janet Sammons (Russ) of Littleton, CO, Christine Blackwell (Joe) of Palmer Lake, CO, and Cynthia Logan of Vorhees, NJ. Also survived by all of Melanie’s family – her father John, sister Beverly, brothers John, James (Renee), Jerrold, and Bradley (Pam). Also survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved.
Doug was a farmer until the age of 32. He received all of his ratings and changed careers to an airline pilot and moved to Las Vegas, NV. He worked for a few companies flying the Boeing 737, Gulfstream 650 and many other planes. Aviation was Doug’s job and hobby. He retired last June from the MGM and loved his time there for the past 12 years. Before that he flew for the Wynn, and the Greenspun family in Las Vegas. He has flown around the world countless times.
Doug was a dedicated family man. He devoted all of his time to his girls and never missed any of their activities when he wasn’t flying. He coined the phrase “trophy dad.” Doug loved taking trips with his family and going to Kennedy Space Center. He knew everything about the space program and loved sharing his knowledge with others. He loved traveling, boating, going to the beach, skiing, and enjoying life with family and friends. Doug had the best sense of humor, and everyone loved being around him.
