Las Vegas, NV --- Eddie Roy Bechdol, 69, of Las Vegas, Nv., passed away Friday, January 8, 2021, at Summerlin Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. Eddie, a loving husband and caring brother, was comforted by his devoted wife, Kathy Bechdol and close family leading up to his death. Due to Covid-19 concerns, a private virtual celebration of life will be held February 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM PST. Those wishing to participate please notify the family.
Eddie was born to Theodore and Agnes Bechdol on September 1, 1951, in Miami, FL. After graduating from Miami Springs Senior High School in 1970, Eddie remained in the Miami area until he met the love of his life, Kathy Bechdol. They celebrated 37 years of marriage in September 2020.
Besides his beloved wife, Eddie is survived by his brother Norman Metz, and loving in-laws Larry and Margie Moore, Kim and June Moore, Jeff and Fafie Moore and 7 nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. Eddie was a longtime pet lover and is missed by his dog, Shelby, who sits by his office door.
Eddie had a zest for life, music, the outdoors and anything mechanical. He would enthusiastically recount his attendance at Woodstock and in recent years going to Sturgis to be part of the renowned motorcycle conclave. Eddie loved the wind in his face whether it was riding a jet ski off the coast of Florida, guiding his motorcycle to parts unknown, or the many snow skiing adventures he and Kathy experienced. In recent years he loved playing golf with his foursome in Sun City Summerlin.
Eddie had numerous hobbies most of which included building or fixing something. While in Florida he and his brother, Norman, worked on cars for endless hours. He built model airplanes and always had a motorized model boat for the company “boat party”. Eddie loved to help others and enjoyed being around people.
Eddie’s career had a diverse path but always included adventure and mechanical aptitude. Eddie was the chef on a boat that traveled the world as far away as Africa. For many years he worked as a tool and die engineer for Motorola in Florida. In 1988 he was honored by Motorola for a patent innovation that “enhanced the technology base of the corporation”. Eddie would tell you that the accomplishment for which he was most proud was being the Owner along with his wife of a pet store, Lovable Puppies, in Palm Beach Gardens. After moving to Las Vegas over ten years ago, Eddie worked as a Property Management Inspector for ERA Brokers Consolidated until his retirement two years ago.
Eddie’s sense of humor, willingness to help, love of animals and devotion to his wife will be missed.
Palm Mortuary Cheyenne location in Las Vegas has been entrusted with the arrangements.
