Emily Constance Renis, 97, of Las Vegas, passed away on September 11, 2020 at home surrounded by family. Emily was born July 3, 1923 in Providence, Rhode Island to Costanza (Albanese) and Giovanni Ferrucci. Emily had six brothers, Peter, Gilbert, Alfred, Guy, Frank, & John and two sisters, Edith & Dorothy. All preceded her in death.
Emily worked in jewelry manufacturing in Rhode Island and in hospitality in Florida as a bartender & cocktail waitress in Las Vegas. Emily retired at age 39 when she married “the boss”, the love of her life, Michael Renis. Emily’s life was defined by the love for her family, especially her daughter Michelle, son-in-law Gary, and granddaughter Cheryl. After her husband’s death, Emily met and spent thirty happy years with her companion Earl Haacke. Emily’s most favorite activity was spending time with her family. She was very close with her sister Dottie. She also enjoyed travelling, tennis, the beach & sunbathing, dining & wine tasting, playing slots, and watching sports on tv especially her favorite tennis player, Rafa Nadal.
Emily enjoyed life and had a very lively personality. She loved to make people laugh, and all who knew her loved her. She credited her longevity to “red wine and olive oil”. Emily will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Emily is survived by her daughter Michelle Ernst, granddaughter Cheryl (Rene) Hernandez, and nieces & nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 11:30 am to be followed by interment at Bunker Brothers Eden Vale In Las Vegas.
