

Emmi Burkhardt Lappoehn, a resident of Las Vegas for nearly 50 years, passed away on October 24, 2017 at the age of 83. She was born August 27, 1934 in Rieschweiler, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Emmi was proceeded in death by her parents, Albert and Emma Guth Burkhardt, her sister, Helena Burkhardt Walz, and her husband of over 25 years, Erik Lappoehn. She is survived by two half-brothers in Germany, Hans and Helmut Burkhardt, and numerous nieces and nephews. Emmi grew up in Germany and after completing her education, immigrated to the United States in 1954. She worked many jobs through her early years but retired from her career with the Las Vegas Police Dept. where she worked as a dispatcher. Emmi will be interred at Palm Northwest Cemetery next to her husband Erik. Emmi was never one to be idle in her retirement years and devoted much of her time as a volunteer with Red Rock Canyon and Sun City Security in Summerlin. She and Erik traveled extensively around the world prior to his death in 2006 and she accompanied him on his many triathlons. She loved hiking, tennis, swmming, and helping others. Like "Auntie Mame", she was always the life of the party, loved and cherished by all who knew her. Friends and family will always remember her as being especially kind, loving, gracious, and generous in every way.
