Ernest D. Hernandez

Ernest Dale Hernandez, Ernie to friends and Dale to family, was born 12/21/36 in Monroe, Louisiana and died 6/19/25 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Madeline “Rusty” Hernandez, and grandson Jason, as well as brother Brian and Sister Irma Jean. He is survived by his younger sister Ann, three daughters, a son and 8 grandchildren.

After high school Ernie joined the Marine Corps where he had a distinguished career as an aircraft mechanic. Following 23 years of dedication he retired and began his second career with Boeing. At 62 he retired from Boeing and he and Rusty moved to Las Vegas. They both volunteered at Mountainview Hospital and Ernie has the distinction of being Nevada’s longest serving volunteer. Ernie stated those carefree days in Vegas with Rusty were the best times of his life.

There will be a celebration of life for Ernie at Palm Mortuary on Jones Blvd. September 19, 2025 at 10:30 am, followed by burial at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV at 2:00 pm.
