

Frankie Mae Bell was born September 23, 1929 to the parents of Burke and Gertrude Walker in Bell City, Mo. Frankie received her early childhood education in the Bell City school system. During her early teens, she moved to Los Angeles, California where she completed her high school education and attended Los Angeles City College for two years. Frankie attended various catering schools in the Los Angeles area and became an excellent chef. She could cook almost anything and make it taste so good. Frankie was well known in Los Angeles and Las Vegas by her catering business. She had a recipe for sweet potato pie, southern style gumbo, and a BBQ sauce that was second to none. Frankie was full of life, style and love. She will be missed and her delicious catered food.
Frankie, as she was known to family and friends was the ninth child of fourteen children, of which twelve had preceded her in death; Curtis Walker, Victoria Walker, Mary Louise Cummings, Joseph Walker, Henry Warren Walker, Sr., Emma Laura, Vallet Walker, Clyde Walker, Airlean Peat, Catherine Marie Shaw, and Francis Arnold. Frankie is also preceded in death by her husband of many years, Douglas Ray Bell and her only daughter, Dethra Lynn Islam.
Frankie leaves behind to celebrate her legacy, one step-daughter, Kim Moore of Birmingham, AL; two grandsons, K’sajian Dashon Frankie Bell of Las Vegas, NV and Reginald A. James of Birmingham, AL (whom she often referred to as her son); one great-grandson, Noah Moore of Birmingham, AL. Frankie also leaves behind one brother, Nelvin Walker (Lily) of Las Vegas, NV; and one sister, Rosie Lee Bronner of Saint Louis, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
