

Fred W. Cook, 71, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Las Vegas on September 14, 1945, to Marion and Allen W. Cook. He graduated from Bishop Gorman High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Fred was a retired telecommunications technician and engineer. In his retirement, he was a volunteer and a foster for L.E.A.N. Horses, where he assisted in the rescue and rehabilitation of many abandoned and abused horses. He loved the simple things in life like spending time with his family and friends, teaching his grandkids how to hit a baseball and ride horses. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his cabin in Utah. Fred was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Allen W. Cook; and sister, Marilyn Gallina. He is survived by his sons, Matthew Cook and Chad Cook (Kathryn); and daughter, Kellye Ray (Robert); his girlfriend, Lou Ann Benda of 30 years; brothers, Allen “Bill” Cook, Thomas Cook, Douglas Cook (Jane); grandchildren, Brady, Hanna, Jake, Lauren, Stella and Ryan; and his former spouse and mother of his children, Jeanie Cook. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., at Palm South Jones Mortuary, 1600 South Jones Blvd., (corner of Oakey and Jones) Las Vegas, Nevada.
