

Gloria Elise Durling, 77, of Las Vegas passed away on September 13, 2024, after battling Parkinson’s disease for 13 years. Gloria was born on October 15, 1946, in York, Nebraska to Harold and Reva Meyer. She graduated from York High School in 1964, then attended the University of Nebraska to become an elementary school teacher. At Christmas 1966 she married David Durling, her High School sweetheart. In 1968 when David, an Army officer was serving in Vietnam, Gloria returned to college, completed her degree and graduated from Nebraska in January 1969.
Gloria and David had two children, daughter Kristin and son Andrew. Gloria was a teacher and began teaching preschool and kindergarten at All Saints Episcopal Day School of Las Vegas in 1983. She became the Director of the school in 1990. After retiring in 2003, she and David began to travel. She loved adventure, enjoying road trips to every corner of this country. She was especially fond of fall color trips to Colorado. She relished spending time with her two granddaughters in Las Vegas and visiting her five grandchildren in Reno.
Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, father, twin brothers Lee and Larry, and half-brother David Meyer, also known as David Janssen.
She is survived by her husband David, daughter Kristin Mayberry of Las Vegas, son Andrew Durling of Reno, Kristin’s children Lily and Grace, and Andrew’s children Margaret, Emma, Liam, Ava and Owen.
Services at 12 noon, Monday September 30, 2024, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Keep Memory Alive at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.
