Helen Cormier, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 11, 2011. Born November 28, 1915 in Anita, Iowa, and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming she moved when she was a teenager with her mother Elizabeth Smith to Reno, Nevada. Years later in 2002 she moved to Las Vegas. She worked for the Washoe County District Attorney, and later became clerk of the Reno Justice Court where she served for 40 years. She was active in many professional and charitable organizations including; Business and Professional Women, the Washoe Medical Center Auxiliary, the Washoe Medical Center Foundation, the Reno Emblem Club, and the Famous Chefs of Las Vegas. She also volunteered at the Washoe Medical Center for many years. She was preceded in death by a wonderful husband of 42 years Mike Cormier. She is survived by her daughter Claudia Cormier and her grandson Jonathan Ferretto along with numerous friends, too many to count. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday January 14, 2011 at Palm Mortuary 1600 South Jones Blvd.
