

Henry H. Rawlings Jr., 75, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Spring Valley Hospital. His family was at his bedside as he peacefully passed from this life. He was born Feb. 22, 1941, the tenth and last child of Henry and Theresa Rawlings of Fairview, Idaho. Henry grew up as a young boy on a dairy farm. As a youth in the Preston, Idaho area, Henry would often ask his schoolteachers to attend trials at the county courthouse. After graduating from Preston High School in 1959, he served in the Utah National Guard. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At age 19, he served as a missionary for two years in the Southern States Mission. He gave much time and service in the LDS church to which he was devoted. He loved the members of the LDS church he had the privilege to serve with. Henry attended a football game at Utah State University where he met Rosalie Davis. They were later married May 1, 1964, in the Logan Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Henry and Rosalie were married for 51 years. Henry attended the University of Utah and Utah State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science. He later attended the College of Law at the University of Denver. He received a Juris Doctorate degree in 1970. After law school, Henry moved to Las Vegas. Within a short time, he became a partner at the law firm of Cromer, Barker, Michaelson, Gillock and Rawlings. Thereafter, he established his own firm Rawlings, Olson, and Cannon, where he practiced for the duration of his legal career. Henry thoroughly enjoyed his career as an attorney, arguing cases in the Nevada courts, serving his clients and serving the community. Among the notable cases he was heavily involved in was the MGM fire case that killed 87 people in 1980, the Las Vegas Hilton fire case in 1981 and the Pepcon explosion case in 1989. He loved and played sports, especially baseball. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. Above all, he was a faithful husband and a devoted father. Henry is survived by his wife, Rosalie Rawlings; sisters, Gladys Lemmon, Janet Fuller and Ruth Hobson; brother, Richard Rawlings; his children, Sandy (David) McClure, Curtis (Kimberly) Rawlings, Michael (Nisha) Rawlings, Jonathan (Emily) Rawlings and Roseanne Rawlings; grandchildren, David McClure, Alyson Rrokaj, Jenna McClure, Sara Rawlings, Jason Rawlings, Blake Rawlings, Ethan Rawlings, Heath Rawlings, Heather Rawlings, Alexandria Sepeda and Savannah Sepeda; and great-grandchild, Bryce McClure. Viewing will be 9:30-10:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, with service following at 11 a.m., both the LDS Lindell Chapel, 2245 Lindell Road, Las Vegas, NV 89146. Burial is pending in the state of Idaho.
