Ivy, was born March 15, 1933 in Manchester England. She was the only daughter of Samuel and Henrietta Moore. Ivy was extremely close to her paternal grandmother “Nana Beatrice Moore” who raised Ivy. She remained in the United Kingdom until 1951 when she boarded the Queen Elizabeth to New York City at the young age of 18. Until her passing, she remained a citizen of the U.K. Short in stature, but large in life - she commanded a room and people gravitated to her. Her presence was well known in the room and her storytelling ability was like no other. Survivor of World War II, she was sent away from her family as a young child by herself to keep her safe “through the war.
Ivy married Richard (Dick) on September 17, 1955 after a short courtship in Indiana. They resided in Euclid, Ohio until moving to Las Vegas nearly 25 years ago. All 5 foot of Ivy kept Dick in line over their 65 years of marriage. They traveled together, played bingo together and loved their trips to see family together in Cleveland.
Ivy was the loving mother of 5 children who adored her. Richard (Alice) of Madison, OH, Sue (Dan) of Auburn Twp, OH, Harry aka Phil (Shelly) of San Diego, CA, Jeff(Jackie) of Burton, OH and Pam of Auburn Twp., OH. She was such a special “Grandma Ivy” to Philip (Shannon), Adam (Lindsay), Allison (Paul), Stephen (Athena), Sarah (Chris), Tyler and Zack. She was Nana to 9 great-grandchildren who absolutely loved her. Lilly, Juliet, Jocelyn, Collins, Crew, Charlotte, Molly, Ella and Nathan will truly miss the love their Nana showed them.
Although Ivy grew up as an only child, her mother in law Jennie and sister in law Dorothy (Bob, deceased) and nephew Tod made her feel like she was born into the family.
Ivy loved to be with her family, loved bingo, taking cruises and vacations, telling stories, and hosting family and friends at her home in Vegas. She also loved music from the Bee Gees, Queen and Rod Stewart.
She also joined close English friends and family on April 29, 2021 - Her cousin Jean and best friend of 70 years, Marge who we are all taking comfort that they are back together again. They are most likely discussing what they think is appropriate re-structuring the English monarch all while sharing tea or a good gin and tonic. She was also a special second mother to “Little Pam” Pam (Todd) Hetrick of Concord Twp., OH.
She will be dearly missed for sure.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
