

Jack Brooks Watson, 85, of Las Vegas NV passed away on Friday morning, December 9, 2022 at his home. He was born on July 20, 1937, in NewGulf, TX. To the late Paul Willard & Ilene Brooks Watson. Jack was also preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Bernal, brother Paul Watson II, sister Teddy Jo Cook, and niece Peggy Salas. Jack attended the University of Texas and later graduated from the University of Houston where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics. Jack also held an Amateur Radio License and his call sign was K5QPA. Jack and JoAnn married on August 27,1960 in Wharton, TX. After college, Jack was hired as a math teacher in Sweeney TX. Jack was then chosen to start the computer programming department for Texas Gulf & Sulfur Company. He worked for Pepsi Cola Corporation in New York City, and later worked for Nestle Company in White Plains. Jack moved to Houston TX to be closer to family. He was a Manager of Information Systems for Occidental Petroleum. Jack ended his career at Tesoro Petroleum as Director of Information Systems. While living in San Antonio, TX, Jack was a Eucharistic Minister and RCIA sponsor at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He retired to Sun City in Las Vegas. Jack worked as a Golf Ranger and served on the Del Webb Golf Oversight Committee for over 20 years. At the age of 76, He won the Men’s Association Sun City Golf Tournament. He was an active member of SEAS Catholic Church. Jack was kind to everyone and gave back to the community by repairing and programming computers for anyone in need. He had a great sense of humor and gave us many laughs. One of his favorite places was the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. He couldn’t go without stopping at Jacob’s Lake for a chocolate malt. Jack enjoyed teaching his granddaughters how to play golf and shared his love of vanilla ice cream cones. Jack was an avid sports fan. When he was young, he was quite the athlete in football, basketball, track, and tennis. Later in life, he loved watching golf, football, and basketball. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, LV Aces, and Raiders. Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, JoAnn Watson of LV, daughter, Paula Watson of LV. Daughter Karla Luers and husband Dan Luers of Greenville, SC. Granddaughter- Ayla Luers Connor and husband Dr. Josh Connor of Greenville SC. Granddaughter-Elise Luers Loy and husband Jordan Loy of Leonardtown, MD. Granddaughter-Kiara Luers Gilmore and husband Sean Gilmore of Fayetteville, AR. Great Granddaughter baby Loy of Leonardtown, MD. Jack was so loved and will be so missed. He was the rock of the family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 10AM at Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Funeral Services will follow at 11AM. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 11AM at Palm NW Cemetery.
