James Earl Epps was born in Hope, Arkansas on November 29, 1950 to Dover Lee and Garland Epps who preceded him in death. James moved to Los Angeles in his senior year of high school and graduated from Manual Arts High School in 1968.
After working at several retail stores, James landed a position at Zodys where he met Minnie Graham. James and Minnie relocated to Las Vegas and were united in holy matrimony on September 25, 1974 where they have resided for the past 37 years.
James was a responsible young man with a gentle spirit. He was warm hearted and devoted to his family. James and Minnie opened their home to assist numerous relatives and friends in need.
James was employed at the Mint Hotel and Casino, which was later renamed Binions Hotel. He was promoted several times in fulfilling his position as a dedicated and proud Sous Chef for 35 years until his health began to fail.
James stepped across the threshold from our earthly fellowship and the labors of life to the sweet rest and glorious communion of Saints in Heaven on Monday, August 30, 2010. We rejoice and thank God for the cherishable memories and the way in which he touched our lives.
James leaves to cherish special memories: a loving and devoted wife, Minnie Epps; one beautiful daughter, Michelle Epps; one granddaughter, McKayla Epps; seven brothers and three sisters-in-law, Johnny (Willie Mae), Robert (Freda), Prentice, Larry, Jerry, Raymond and Raynard; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Rita, Ann, Doris (Albert) and Velma; one uncle, RC Knox of Detroit, Michigan; sister-in-law Patricia Jones of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Palm Northwest-Funeral Home, Las Vegas, NV.
