

James A. McClain Jr. was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to James and Dorothy McClain. A proud graduate of St. Francis High School in 1968, he was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 18, beginning a life of dedicated service.
During his time in the Army, Jim earned an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement and served as a Military Police Officer. He completed two tours in Vietnam and was stationed in Germany and Hawaii. He was ultimately based at Fort Hood, Texas, retiring in 1983 with the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant.
Following his military service, Jim continued his public service as a Motorcycle Officer in Houston, Texas. His commitment to protecting and serving his community was a defining part of his life.
In 1994, Jim moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he met the love of his life. He and Deena were married in 1999, beginning a new chapter filled with devotion, humor, and companionship.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Deena McClain; his sisters, Karen McClain and Kelly Datzer; and his children: Kim Carter, Patricia Furr, James McClain Jr., Anna Vasquez, D'arce Reid, and Adam Hess.
He was a proud grandfather to Robert and Chris Carter, Nikki Hunnicutt, Cameron Furr, Alexander and Colin McClain, and Nicky and Mya Vasquez—along with five beloved great-grandchildren, and his beloved cat Tucker & dog Meatball.
Jim will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Boulder City Veterans Memorial Cemetery on June 25th at 12:40 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will follow, where friends and family are encouraged to share stories, memories, and laughter in honor of a man who lived with integrity, love, and unwavering dedication.
