James Ira Young

James Ira Young, 81, a long-time resident of the Las Vegas area, passed away on December 21, 2023, at the Dignity Care Home.

He was born October 11, 1942, in Independence, Missouri to Edith Marie Young (Cason) and Leroy Young Jr. His lovely wife Hermela Young to whom he was married for 56 years preceded him in death.

James graduated from William Chrisman High School March 1961 and enlisted into the United States AirForce. He served in the US AirForce for 20 years (Mar 1961 – Mar 1981) where he met his future wife Hermela whom he married on 16 May 1967, while serving in the Philippines. After his retirement, James settled in Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked, various casinos, and gaming positions. James established an excellent life with his wife and filled his life with friends and family.

James loved good food, socializing, going bowling and playing cards with friends.

His two sisters, three brothers and lots of Nieces and Nephews survive James.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Boulder City, NV Southern Nevada State Veterans Home.

The Funeral service will be held at 10:00 -1200 am, January 29, 2023, at the Palm Downtown Mortuary. The Burial will be held at 1:20 pm at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Cemetery, Boulder City, NV.
