ROLE OF A FATHER

The role of a father is hard to define;

It can’t be summed up in one simple line.

He’s someone you’ve looked up to all of your life;

and he’s always there when you need advice.

He’s a mentor, a teacher, an instiller of goals;

In the play of life, a father has many roles.

He’s a provider, disciplinary, a “Jack” of all trades;

and he’s always quite proud of the family he’s made.

He is someone that shares your thoughts, your ideas and dreams;

and you know that he’d help you achieve them at any means.

As a child he was king of your castle, ruler of your land;

and sometimes he ruled with an iron hand.

But he always had time to help, no project too big or too small;

and he was always around to pick you up,

whenever you happened to “fall”

All of those memories, plus the ones in the making;

are always in your heart for the taking.

For a father is not just someone wise with advise to lend;

he is also a close and loving friend.
