

John T. Gibson was born April 25, 1920 in Kersey, Colorado. He was the son of John A Gibson and Susie Baker. He moved to Missouri with his four older sisters, Chloe, Florine, Nadine and Reycene until he was 9 years old. When he moved to California, graduated in 1938 Ventura Union High School and immediate worked in theatre for 2 years. He married his first wife in 1941 and they had 2 children, Jerry and Sue Ellen. He soon enlisted in the Navy and served his country from 1944 to 1946. After he left the US Navy, he became a welder, and owned two Union Oil Gas Stations from 1958 to 1962.
He then joined the Ventura Port District Police Department from 1962 to 1968, and during that time he married his second wife. He relocated to Reno, Nevada in the early 70’s where he worked for the MGM as a security officer until retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed caring for horses, which inspired him to become a member of the Northern California Dachshund Club. He took very good care of them because he was a true animal lover.
He remarried for the third time in 1989 to Cidalia, and they a beautiful daughter together, Karen Sue. Over the years he was very active which included his many travels visiting family in California and in Reno, Nevada, vacation to various beaches where he could water ski. He also enjoyed visiting the national parks. In the last few years of his life, John had become very ill. On May 7, 2014, John a retired security guard in the casino industry passed away. He we surrounded by his loving family, and they will miss him dearly.
To cherish his memory, he leave his devoted wife, Cidalia Gibson; children, Jerry (Joyce) Gibson, Sue Ellen (John) Rains, Karen Sue Gibson; stepdaughter, Sandra Gilbert; grandchildren, Kevin (Lila), Heidi (Dan) Dunn, Paige Trigueiro, and Bradi; stepgrandchildren, Aiden and Violet Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Michael, Brandon, and Thomas Kendlinger, Gabriel Trigueiro, Danielle Dunn, Nicolas and Tyler Gibson; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susie Gibson, and all of his sisters, Chloe, Florine, Nadine, and Reycene.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15th from 3-7pm at Palm Mortuary-Eastern, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123. The graveside service will be held on Friday, May 16th at 1:20pm at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Animal Foundation.
