

Pastor Johnny Lewis Nantz, age 66, of Las Vegas, died Thursday, May 29, 2014 in Las Vegas. Born November 14, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he had been a Las Vegas resident and Pastor of Spring Valley Baptist Church for 25 years. His passion was sharing the Love of Jesus locally and around the world. He led a Missions Team to Sao Paula, Brazil to share Jesus with others during Carnival by doing street paint talks. He led a group to Nairobi, Kenya to teach Vacation Bible School and shared the "Good News" with the locals of Nairobi. He served on the International Mission Board and other committees of the Southern Baptist Convention. He served on the Executive Board of the Nevada Baptist Convention. He led his church in per capita Giving to Lottie Moon Foreign Mission offering. He was elected as Moderator of Southern Nevada Baptist Association (SNBA) and served on the selection committee of SNBA. Pastor Nantz loved going to local coffee shops and reading his newspaper while meeting new friends. He enjoyed laughing and telling jokes and enjoyed playing tennis with family and friends. He ran in numerous 5ks in Oklahoma and enjoyed jogging with the local cancer fighting running team. He was preceded in death by his father, George Nantz. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marjorie, Mendy (Roland) Sedlmeier, J. Lewis Nantz and Evie (Matthew) Zamudio; grandchildren Harley, Sofie and Abigail; mother Vennie Nantz and sisters Beverly (Ron) Griffin, Robin (Jim) Hanner and Rhonda (David) Sanders. A memorial service will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Spring Valley Baptist Church, 3135 S. Rainbow Blvd. Interment will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pastor Nantz's name are suggested to Spring Valley Baptist Church,
