Joyce Alice Bordner

Joyce Alice Bordner, age 99, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Monday September 23, 2019. Joyce was born June 5, 1920 in Green Bay, WI, the fifth of six children to Anton and Phoebe Christensen. Her loving family were, and still are, avid Green Bay Packers fans.

In her young adult years she helped out in her parents bar before moving to Los Angeles, Calif. in 1950 to take a position with the phone company as an operator. It was in California where she met and married Roy Oscar Bordner. In 1956 they added a beautiful son to their family, Michael Anthony Bordner, who had a 25 year career with the Nye County Sheriff’s office at the rank of Captain.

In 1969 Joyce quit her position with the phone company to move to Chino Valley, Az. for Roy’s health. Her family became her priority while also becoming involved with her church and the community. Joyce liked everyone and had a huge circle of friends in addition to numerous relatives. Everyone loved Joyce because she was kind and compassionate, but mostly because she was fun!! She was an excellent hostess sponsoring many holidays, parties and family gatherings.

She is preceded in death by her husband Roy, son Michael, brothers James Christensen, Gerald Christensen, Norbert Christensen and sister Marie Wochos.

She is survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. Joyce was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

A memorial service for Joyce will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 with visitation and family eulogies at 10:30 and mass from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89128. A Celebration of Life reception will occur Friday, October 18, 2019 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Atria Seville, 2000 North Rampart Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89128.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
