Born on September 11, 1949, Judy’s life was a vibrant blend of love, laughter, creativity, and adventure. She met the love of her life, Harvey Nickelson, in 1982, and they were married the following year. Together, they celebrated 41 years of marriage on October 22, 2024.
Judy and Harvey built their life together in Santa Cruz, California, where they shared decades of memories with family and friends. Five years ago, they began a new chapter and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley, and Alma Kody; her brother, Stan Kody; and her beloved granddaughter, Stephany Kristine Costa. She is survived by her devoted husband, Harvey; brother, Joe Kody (Trin), and sister-in-law Judy Kody.
A devoted bonus mother to Kristine Ronzano (Chris), and proud grandmother to Bonnie Costa (Adam Ashton) of Australia, Brett Costa (Diva Holmes) of Santa Cruz, and Samantha Ronzano of Pasadena, Judy was the heart of her family. Her love for them was constant and unconditional.
She had a gift for making life beautiful—through painting, traveling the world, and finding humor in the everyday. Judy had a special knack for sending friends clever messages and cartoons, always managing to bring a smile. She and Harvey shared a passion for exploring new places, often traveling together with close friends.
With her striking blue eyes, tall elegance, and radiant smile, Judy turned heads wherever she went—but it was her warmth, wit, and joyful spirit that truly left a lasting impression. She was Harvey’s steadfast partner throughout his successful banking career, attending countless events and functions with grace and charm.
Judy leaves behind many dear friends in both Santa Cruz and Las Vegas, all of whom will miss her immensely. Her kindness, humor, and zest for life will be remembered and cherished always.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at a later date in Santa Cruz, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her memory by sharing a laugh, sending a funny message to someone you love, or pausing to appreciate the simple joys in life—just as Judy always did.
