

Kathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Louis and Ruth Baradat and Louis and Lillian Lipari; her father, Joseph Kershaw; and her beloved grandson, Joseph Herrera Jr.
Kathy was born July 30th, 1959 in Oxnard, CA. She graduated from Oxnard High in 1977 and began her colorful journey in adulthood. She spent half of her life up until her late 30s in Oxnard where she then moved to Las Vegas, NV and remained.
To know Kathy was to know and be WELL acquainted with that four letter word she said without prejudice. In fact it is believed she holds the World Record for how many different ways she could use the F word. Most importantly to know her was to know a woman who would bend over backwards for someone in need. Especially the mental cases (what she referred to us as) she called children. Kathy had a lifelong love for animals, a passion that began in childhood when she would take in and care for stray animals in need of a home. This compassionate spirit carried into her adult life, where she not only continued to care for animals but also opened her heart and home to friends in need. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds. This selflessness expanded into her healthcare career.
Her profession in healthcare administration spanned decades, but her passion and commitment to caring for patients personally led her to obtain her CNA license in 2019. She found immense fulfillment in providing care and making a difference in the lives of others.
Kathy was known for her strong presence in every part of her life, whether she was wearing her white cape at work or attempting to boss her children around. Outside of her busy days, she cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She also shared a special and deeply appreciated bond with her daughter-in-law, Keiara. She found true joy in their company.
She is survived by her mother, Marilou Guscette; her siblings, Nancy Yamamoto (Dean) and Scott Kershaw; her five children, Melissa Herrera, Joseph Herrera (Amanda), Deidrē Davis, David Darnel (Keiara), and Micheal Taylor; and her cherished ten grandchildren, Adrian, Alexis, Alana, Karmalee, Jayden, Kahlea, David Darnel III, Aubrielle, A’mari, and Eliana. Nephews Anthony and Joseph, Niece Mykella and a handful of extended family she called friends.
Kathy will be remembered for her devoted love for her family, her dedication to helping those in need, and her buckle up and hold on personality and selfless spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
