Larry Gene Ellenbrook Sr., also known as “Big Lar” to many, passed away on August 20, 2022 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betsy Ellenbrook, his daughter, Jennifer Snider, her husband Kurt Snider, Larry’s son, Larry Ellenbrook, Jr., his wife Melissa Ellenbrook, and his two grandchildren Harper and Hadley Snider.
Larry was born on January 13, 1947 in Akron, Ohio to Laura Murphy and John Ellenbrook, Jr. The family moved around a bit, but came to settle upon Las Vegas, Nevada. Larry joined the Operating Engineers Local 501. He worked for many historic casinos before retiring from the Riviera Hotel and Casino.
Larry was a dedicated husband, father, and grandparent who loved spending time with his family. Larry enjoyed a number of outdoor activities such as boating, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed watching sports, taking road trips, BBQ’s, 57 Chevrolets, and a well done filet at Bob Taylor’s Steakhouse - not butterflied!
A Celebration of Life will be held for Larry in November.
