Lloyd Axel Johnson, Jr., was born on October 17, 1956, in Berkeley, California. Lloyd spent most of his early childhood in Northern California before packing his bags and moving south with his mother and younger brother, Johnny, to Las Vegas, Nevada. He spent the remainder of his adolescent and adult years in the bright lights of Las Vegas, where he eventually and permanently called home. Lloyd attended K.O. Knudson Middle School in 1971 and 1972, where he met one of his best friends, Dave, in shop class. Lloyd later attended Valley High School for his freshman and sophomore years. He would then complete his junior and senior year at Chaparral High School, where he and Dave would meet again to play baseball and roam the freshly built halls of Chaparral together before graduating in 1975.
After graduating, Lloyd dabbled in valeting at Dirty Sally's and The Mint Las Vegas as his first go-arounds in the job world. He later began his true career journey as a Corrections Officer downtown with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Here is where Lloyd met another life-long friend and comrade, Tommy. The two became very close friends, sharing ride alongs and stories that carried their friendship for years to come. A few short years after becoming a corrections officer, Lloyd reconnected with a high school friend, Jacquelin. Their relationship flourished quickly, with the couple wed in 1978, then welcoming their only child three years later, Jonathan Johnson.
As a new father, Lloyd decided to switch career paths and pursue a long-time passion: Photography, following his father's footsteps. Growing up a northern California native, you chose either to be a Niners fan or a Raiders fan. Lloyd chose the dark side and never turned back, becoming one of the sideline photographers for the Los Angeles Raiders organization in the mid-80s. Although the pay wasn't enough then to make a living, Lloyd continued through the years purely out of his love for the Raiders and Photography. In addition to being a diehard Raiders fan, it was only natural for black to be one of Lloyd's favorite colors and the color of most vehicles throughout his lifetime.
Following Lloyd's career with the Los Angeles Raiders, he formed a special, brotherly bond with Kenny. At the time, Kenny was a football player attending UNLV, furthering a common interest together. The two became friends when Kenny happened to be jogging by Lloyd detailing, none other than one of his latest, jet black vehicles — a Porsche 911, at the time. A simple conversation ensued, turning into a full-on test drive of the sports car, and the rest was history.
After all the fun and dust settled in the 80s, Lloyd started working in sales at Fletcher Jones Toyota to become one of their top car salesmen. The next chapter of Lloyd's life would begin, where he met his last companion, Brenda. At the time, they were only co-workers but would soon find themselves intermingling their lives, with Lloyd becoming a positive figure to Brenda's children, Brittany and Tyler. Lloyd and Brenda's relationship continued over the years as they moved on to work together at ADT, amongst others.
In addition to his job at ADT, Lloyd started working at TAO Nightclub in 2009 as a security guard for fun. Sadly, he already experienced heart valve issues in past years, which worsened when he worked at TAO. One evening while on shift, Lloyd had a heart attack and lost too much oxygen to his brain, leading to hospitalization and astonishingly surviving a 30-day coma. Lloyd couldn't fully rehabilitate due to the neurological and physical deterioration the heart attack caused, which ensued his ten-year battle, and Brenda generously taking on the caregiver role.
February of 2022, Lloyd's health declined exponentially, leaving hospice the only solution for proper care. Seventy-two hours following his admittance into hospice, Lloyd's body could fight no longer. Lloyd passed peacefully in North Las Vegas at Nathan Adelson Hospice on March 5, 2022. To honor Lloyd's wishes, he will be cremated, and his Life Celebration will be held privately with loved ones and close friends. Lloyd is survived by his father, Lloyd Axel Johnson, Sr., son, Jonathan Johnson, grandsons Weston and Levi Johnson, girlfriend, Brenda Brian, and long-time friends Kenny Rose, Dave Freeman, and Tommy Harrington. Preceding him were his mother, Charlotte Loria, and brother, John Alexander Johnson.
"We think about you always, we talk about you still, you have never been forgotten, and you never will. We hold you close within our hearts, and there you will remain."
