In Loving Memory of our dad, Pastor Mafoa Te’o Sapini, Sr, 70, of North Las Vegas, passed away on April 21, 2020 at Mountainview Hospital, Las Vegas NV. Dad was born on August 26, 1949 in the village of Vailoatai, PagoPago, American Samoa to father Te’o Sapini Su’a and mother Aaifou Potoa’e Te’o Su’a. Dad graduated from Leone High School in American Samoa in 1970, worked as a firefighter in American Samoa prior to enlisted and served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve six years later. After discharge, dad worked many awesome jobs and one job he valued the most was teaching the Bible. Dad became an ordained minister in 2018 from the Church of the Nazarene, District of Arizona. He served as a senior pastor to the Grace Samoan International Church of the Nazarene, North Las Vegas, NV, to the day his Lord called him home.
Dad lived in American Samoa, Hawaii, California, Missouri before eventually settled here in North Las Vegas. Dad always had a smile on his face, the smile that warmed everyone’s heart. He was very supportive and loving no matter what. We could not have asked for a better father. We will always have a special place in our hearts for him.
Our dad was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother in-law, uncle, uncle in-law, nephew, nephew in-law, cousin, cousin in-law, husband, and friend. He is survived by his five children, two daughters: Monalisa So’oalo of Hawaii, Teresa Vaiotu of Washington State, and three sons; Matthew Sapini & Mafoa Sapini Jr of Nevada, and Mose Mafoa III of Alaska, seven brothers; Jimmy Fruean of New Zealand, Johnny Fruean of Alaska, Peni Te’o and Pastor Sapini Te’o of American Samoa, Kipeona Te’o of Hawaii, Malala Sapini of California, Toma Sapini of Nevada, five sisters; Puna Siana Finau of American Samoa, Avau Faaesea & Muliaiga Sapini of Nevada, Eleelesa Te’o of Alaska, Tina Su’a Taylor of Missouri, one aunt: Fetu Achica Ishihara Manuo of Hawaii, sons in-law & daughters in-law, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nieces in-law, nephews & nephews in-law, cousins & cousins in-law, brothers in-law & sisters in-law and beloved friends.
Dad was preceded in death by our loving mother and wife Mona Pomele Sapini, his parents Mr. & Mrs. Te’o Sapini Su’a, his two sisters: Tala’ave Leituala Ai’i and Ianeta Te’o Olson.
We will miss you, dad, for the rest of our lives. We Love You so much, DAD! Your children, Lisa, Matt, Terri, Jr and Mose.
The combination of visitation and service for Pastor Mafoa Te’o Sapini will be on Friday May 22, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Palm Cheyenne Mortuary, 7400 West Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas.
