Aug. 21, 1936-July 24, 2015 Margy Strobeck (nee Botner), 78, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully at home with her three children by her side. Margy was born Aug. 21, 1936, in Watford City, N.D., to Albert and Edna (nee Henderson) Botner. She attended country school near the farm where she grew up. She had fond memories of her high school friends, running around Watford City in her storm coat and white bucks, eating hamburgers at the bakery and having her uncle Hans cut her hair at the barber shop. All of her Botner aunts and uncles, and her cousins, lived nearby and she enjoyed all of them. She attended UND, Grand Forks, for one year and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She married Aldon Strobeck in May, 1956. They lived in Stanley, N.D. for the early part of their marriage and were blessed with three children, Karen, Steven and Kristine. Over the years, Marge was busy moving where Al's career took them and raising their children. They lived in Northern and Southern California, Nebraska and Las Vegas, where the children attended high school, always returning to North Dakota for the holidays and summers on the farm. In 1972, Marge and Al purchased Margy's stepfather's (Bud Perry) ranch outside of New Town, N.D., and Margy became actively involved in managing that ranch long distance and in the summers. Later, Marge spent ten years helping her daughter Kris run the Strobeck family farm near Stanley. Marge was a country girl at heart and loved the wide open spaces of North Dakota. Margy's greatest love in life was family, her children, her grandchildren and her friends. She wanted nothing more than to give her time and love to others. Just visiting and drinking coffee with friends, sharing family holidays, making lefse with her grandsons or attending their events. She also loved to go anywhere with her family members, from traveling to Norway (proud to be Norwegian) with her daughters or even a day's outing of errands with Steve. The last approximately eight years of dealing with her vascular demetia were very difficult for Margy and her family. We are so grateful for all of mom's caregivers, who cared so tenderly for her. We are also grateful for the wonderful care and support received from Nathan Adelson Hospice. Because of them she was able to remain at home. Margy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Sonny; and her sister, Jean. She is survived by her children, Karen Lindseth (Leif) of Aurora, Ore., Steve Strobeck (Linda) and Kris Strobeck, all of Las Vegas; her three grandsons, Reed and Logan Strobeck of Las Vegas and Soren Lindseth of Aurora, Ore. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas. Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 8901 Del Web Blvd., Las Vegas. Burial will be Monday, August 3, at Fairview Cemetery, Stanley, N.D. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margy's name to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
