

Mary Elizabeth Carpenter, 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a long illness. She was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada to Jack and Rachel Streeter and was the middle of three children. She migrated to the United States in 1959 and became a US Citizen in 1973. In 1961 she married her husband of 44 years, Richard Carpenter. Together they raised five children, Patsy, Chris, Susie, Barbie and Richard. Mary had 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Mary had an accomplished career over the years. In the 1970s, she served as the General Manager for Beverly Hills Lincoln Mercury. Upon Richard's retirement in 1981, they started and ran a successful video rental business together. In 1989 they moved to Avila Beach California where she took a position with Cuesta College as a technology trainer for faculty. Upon her retirement in 2003, she and Richard moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Mary's passion lied in her family and her sewing machine. She loved travelling with her husband and children; and nothing made her happier than sewing for her family. She was a gifted quilter and sewer who crafted countless beautiful, creative works throughout her life. Although she is gone, she will live on through her family, friends, and the countless treasures they have to remember her by. She will be missed beyond words. Mary is survived by her children and her sister, Shirley. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard, her brother David and great-granddaughter Kendall. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Bishop Gorman High School Chapel, 5959 S. Hualapai Way, Las Vegas, NV 89148. Burial is the following Monday, June 12 at 10:40am at the Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada where she will be laid to rest with Richard. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in her name to the Nathan Adelson Hospice of Las Vegas, Nevada.
