In the most glorious sections of Heavens Gardens, a beautiful new addition has arrived! Dr. Mary Carroll passed away most unexpectedly Jan. 16, 2015, much to the incredible grief of family and friends. A proud native Las Vegan, Mary was born Feb. 15, 1952, to parents Marue and Cora Carroll. She attended Clark High School, followed by UNLV and unto Southern California College of Optometry. Being in private practice since 1984, May was achieving her life-long dream and doing work she loved. “Doc Mary” specialized in children’s visual care and was a fierce and tireless supporter of all relevant issues. She was the first woman member and past president of the University Rotary Club, past president of the Board of Variety Day Home and the New Horizons Academy, member of the Foundation Board of the Clark County Community College and long-time member of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. On a more personal level, she is survived by her sister, Kathy (Rick); niece, Dannielle (Anthony); nephew, R.J. (Jenn) Theron; also, her “four-legged kids”, Maude, Molly and Midnight, all who she dearly loved and who added so much joy to her life. She was an incredible friend and, as such, cultivated deep, lasting and loving friendships. She was smart, funny, resourceful and loyal to a fault. She loved to cook and host and attend special dinners and happy occasions. It goes without saying that there is a deep void in many hearts today that will linger always. Mary would want us to fill the void with love, compassion and kindness for ourselves and others. Mary was a phenomenal woman who will be sorely missed. A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan.31, 2015 at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Mary and family request no flowers. In lieu, please make donations to Shade Tree Shelter or America’s Bravest.
Arrangements under the direction of Palm Downtown Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
