Mary Gelino, age 66, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 13, 1954 and passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 5, 2021. Known since her first communion in the Cathedral of the Madeleine as Mary Katherine, she always made fighting hard for one's self seem like the most natural thing in the world. Later she would fight hard to officially be known by her chosen name, Mary Anjolean Gelino. Survived by five brothers, a sister, two daughters, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild named for her: Rosemary. Preceded in death by her former husband, Rell Nielson and also by her beloved mother, Marie Frances Gelino.
A fierce defender and true sympathizer for the human condition, she was known for throwing herself in harm's way to protect those she loved. She had the strongest spirit that any of us have known; may her strength carry us through this sudden and devastating loss.
In Mary's legacy, our family urges you to please speak with your family about becoming a registered organ and tissue donor.
