Nanette (Nana) was born in the Bronx, New York City on February 22, 1933, and died on March 20, 2024, at the age of 91. She was the daughter of David and May (Blank) Gottesman. David was a tailor, and later for many years the family owned a candy store in New York, where they operated the store and lived in the back of the store. Nana had an older sister, Hilda, and an older brother Louie. Nana would often tell the family stories of her growing up in the city and the adventures that she had, especially focusing on the many times she would go to the movies with Louie, packed a lunch, and spend most of the day there, enjoying it very much.
Nana married Abraham (Abe) Rosenberg in 1952 in New York City. He was born in Romania, moved to New York about 1950, and was a jeweler and a small business owner. They had three children, Mark, Steven, and Phyllis, and they all grew up in Los Angeles, after the family moved there in 1958. Nana spent her golden years living in Las Vegas, and much of her family followed her lead and moved there as well.
Nana is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. To Nana, family was everything. She very much enjoyed the company of her family and friends, and as someone with a good sense of humor, laughed often. One of the more memorable things she did for her children was to become a den mother in the cub scouts. She did a terrific job, and the kids enjoyed the arts and crafts, putting on plays, meetings, and events very much. Through the years, Nana enjoyed playing board games, and often would play rummy tile with family and friends.
Nana was preceded in death by her beloved husband Abe, and her sister Hilda, and her brother Louie.
A celebration of life for Nanette will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Cheyenne, 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89129.
