Dr. Nonito “Nenen” Ong, born January 24, 1943, formerly of Woodridge, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Loving husband of 48 years to the late Bernardita Paez Ong, he is survived by his sons, Gregg Ong (Janet), Brent and Nonito Junior, grandchildren Zachary, Sophie and Francine, siblings Edgardo (Estelita) Ong, Franklin Ong, Joselito (Delia) Ong and Jocelyn (Vernon) Yap, half-siblings and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Pilar A. Ong and Tan Kim Tua.
An electrical engineer and mathematician, he received his PhD in electrical engineering. He retired from the Washington Group as a Supervising Electrical Engineer. A taekwondo black belt and avid dancer, he loved basketball and his favorite hobby was working on math puzzles and equations. He will be remembered as a dedicated husband, humble, kind, and generous man.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 13th at Palm South Jones Mortuary at 1600 South Jones Boulevard in Las Vegas, Nevada from 3:30 – 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 19th, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln Avenue in Lisle, Illinois. On Saturday, July 20th at 10:00 a.m., there will be a funeral mass at St. Scholastica Catholic Church, 7800 Janes Avenue in Woodridge, Illinois. He will be laid to rest thereafter at Clarendon Hills Cemetery at 6900 S. Cass Avenue in Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ginatilan Association of the United States of America (GAUSA), 91 Berkley Avenue, Belle Mead, New Jersey 08502.
