Paul Edward Kane peacefully entered the heavenly world with his Lord on Saturday, November 22, 2025 while in the care of Nathan Adelson Hospice. Paul will be remembered as a kind hearted, gentle, quiet, and intelligent man who had a great love for his family. A Las Vegas local for the past 13 years, Paul enjoyed Golden Knights hockey, aviation, traveling to Hawaii, gardening, bowling, and enjoying a meal and laughs with friends.
Paul was born on July 17, 1945; the second son to William E. and Ethel G. Kane in Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, IL. They raised their Irish Catholic family of six kids on the Southside of Chicago and Orland Park, IL. Growing up Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman and alter boy. He was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School and Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Meterology. Shortly after graduation, Paul joined the United States Air Force as an officer and pilot. During his 9 year service as Captain, Paul flew and instructed on the KC-135 and EC-135 air refuelers. While serving at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, Paul met the love of his life, Betsy. They were married on December 31, 1975. Paul and Betsy chose Chicago to raise their family, and Paul fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot for United Airlines where he worked from 1978 to 2005. He ended his career as a Captain of his favorite aircraft, the Boeing 777.
Paul is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betsy, and children George Kane, Heather (Brent) Harpin, and Elizabeth Kane. He is also survived by brothers Bill (Jean) , John (Arlene) , and Joe (Vicky) and sister Kate. Paul was the proud grandfather to four grandsons; C.J., Billy, Alex, and Nate.
