youngest daughter of parents Melvin and Mable Greene. She leaves to mourn her death
her lifetime partner Aaron J Basey of Las Vegas, NV. She was a very loving person.
She is survived by two sisters, Frances Strater of Oxford NC and Annie Dillard of
Washington DC. Rebecca was preceded in death by her brother, Purple Heart Recipient,
Melvin Greene Jr. and sister Jessie Mae Wilson. Becky, as she was fondly called, graduated
from G.C. Hawley High School in Creedmoor, North Carolina in the County of Granville, 1967.
She continued Higher Education and attended Kittrell College, a historically black college
founded by the African Methodist Episcopal Church located in Kittrell, North Carolina, and North
Carolina Central University in Durham NC. She also studied abroad in Paris France. When she
passed away she was still pursuing her love for Higher Education as an active scholarship student
at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In her past she worked for some time at Raleigh-Durham
International Airport and at NCCU. While here in Las Vegas, NV Becky worked for the Clark County School District as a teacher. She worked as a 4th-grade teacher at the 100 ACADEMY of
Excellence CHARTER SCHOOL. At the academy, she always presented a positive self-image and had a wonderful rapport with her students. Ms. Greene’s teaching philosophy was “Raise The
Bar.” Many of her prior students are now college graduates. Becky loved the art of teaching and her students will forever benefit from her legacy. Rebecca never had children of her own but was
always supportive and encouraging to her many nieces and nephews. Becky is and will be
missed by a host of loved ones, friends, and relatives.
