Richard "Rick" M Hamalainen

Beloved husband of Karen Hamalainen, father of Christina Megal (Corey, d), Nichole Healy (Billy), and Richard T. Hamalainen (Rebecca), and stepfather to Lisa Mueller. Grandchildren include Taylor, Stephanie, Brian, Norah and Fiona. Rick is survived by his sister, Sue Hawtrey, brother in-law, Kevin Fehlo. Preceded in death by parents Wilho and Katherine Hamalainen.

A veteran of the Navy, Rick served 2 active years and 24 years in the Naval Reserves.

Rick was an avid pool player and played in many pool leagues throughout his life. He and his team enjoyed taking 2nd place in the National Team Championship in 2001 open division 8 ball. In addition to pool, Rick loved riding his motorcycle, logging countless miles across the country on his BMW bike with his wife Karen.

In his work, Rick was a power plant engineer and taught courses with the National Association of Power Engineers. He had been an entrepreneur with his own HVAC company while living in Milwaukee Wisconsin, prior to relocating to Las Vegas.

Rick will be remembered for his love of life and his genuinely kind heart. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family members.

A gathering for Rick will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022 beginning at 10:00 AM with a service starting at 11:00 AM PST at Palm South Jones Mortuary, 1600 South Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89146. Family and friends are then invited to join together at the house after the service for food and drinks and fond memories.
