

Robert "Bob" Palm, Jr. was born December 16, 1943, to the union of Robert Lee Palm and Mary Lee Smith in Morton, Mississippi They later moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1954 where he attended school until he decided to drop out of high school and join the Navy While in the Navy he attended a Billy Graham Crusade where he accepted God He traveled the world while in the Navy. After six (6) years of active duty he was honorably discharged and moved to Boulder, Colorado, .where he attended the University of Colorado and got his Masters in Journalism. This is where he met and married the mother of his son, Todd West (Trinity) He later moved back to Las Vegas and became the first African American Journalist for the Las Vegas Sun where he wrote his own column. Bob was also very active in politics After leaving the Sun he pursued a career as a GIS Analyst with the Regional Transportation Center. He retired in 2008. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, reading, (especially the Bible & anything related to the Bible) raising his four puppies and spending time with his family & friends and ordering from Fingerhut & Amazon!
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.and two brothers-in-law. He leaves to celebrate his life: sisters Arsola Nuby (John), Jessie Hymes, Diretha Bakari (Kamau). Cherry Washington. Yverta Kennedy (Tony): brothers Larry Palm and Orlando Palm; nieces Michelle Mitchell (Arthur), Deidre Richardson, Latashia Goodlow (Jerome), Bria Mclver (Najee); nephews Jamah Hymes (Keshia), DeAndre Palm (Lavatta). Ogonna Hymes (Sharon). DeLawne. T J Kennedy: great niece Deja: great nephews Torrence Whalum, Andreus Moore, Aaron Hymes, Tahj Goodlow, Royce Hymes , Cassius Hymes; granddaughter Lyesha Weber, and a host of relatives & friends. His kindness and gentleness and soft spoken voice will truly be missed by all!
