Born: September 20, 1942 in Guangdong Province in Toishan Southern Canton China.
Career:
Trained as a cook in Guandong Cuisine Restaurant and in Hong Kong.
Robert arrived in the USA in 1964 and worked at the Golden Gate restaurant in New York as a cook. Later he opened Wong’s Restaurant in Clinton, Connecticut.
In 1980, Robert moved to Las Vegas and worked as a chef at the MGM and Sands hotels. In 1986, he opened Wan’s Gifts and Check Cashing along with Faye Fashions on Fremont Street.
Bob, as he was called by close friends, loved to watch horseracing, football and jai alai (Brazilian tennis). He also enjoyed travelling, having visited numerous cities around the world.
Bob was an excellent ‘salesman’, who enjoyed talking and networking with people. As an extroverted personality, he was exited to share his passion for the SGI organization.
In 2007, Bob received his Gohonzon and he and his wife Wan were early pioneers assisting with the development of the Chinese division of the SGI in Las Vegas.
Bob loved to Shakabuku new people to the practice and personally introduced over 30 people to join the organization.
Bob was always happy and enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing him.
