In Loving Memory of Rocelious “Uncle William” Williams

Today we lay to rest my favorite uncle in marriage, Rocelious Williams, affectionately known as Uncle William. He came into my life as Aunt Margie’s husband, but he became so much more, a mentor, a big brother, and a special uncle who shaped so many of my memories.

It was 1971, the year Soul Train first aired in my hometown of Detroit, MI, and the year Chrysler introduced the third-generation Dodge Charger. Those moments are forever tied to my memory of him. I can still see him walking in, flicking the TV channel, and saying, “Look you squares, why y’all not watching Soul Train?” That was the end of Saturday morning kiddie cartoons for me. From then on, this little 9-year-old had the coolest big brother figure and uncle making sure I was one of the cool kids.

The neighborhood knew it too — whenever that red Charger pulled up, it was time for a ride with the coolest dude in the coolest car. Uncle Williams had a way of bringing fun, energy, and belonging wherever he went.
He will be remembered not just for his style, but for his warmth, his laughter, and the way he made us all feel special. Rest peacefully, Uncle Williams. 

Thank you for the joy you brought into our lives  your memory will forever ride with us.

Rocelious, remained our UNCLE William.  His Detroit nieces have many, many special memories. He was always upbeat, always treated family with warmth and loved playing cards.  His funny antedotes and sense of humor are legendary.  He was a blessing to all who knew him.

Thank you for stepping in when I needed my dad. You picked up the phone and talked with me until I was okay. Our family will truly miss you.

Fun times hanging with the best uncle in the world! We're gonna miss you!

I remember trying to show Uncle how to set up Facebook and Instagram at the same time so he could keep up with everything. He was always social media smart and wanted to be in the know! Rest on, Uncle Baybay. Rest well—you will truly be missed.

Surround yourself with a crew like this—where safety, love, and support are always guaranteed.

He brought laughter, wisdom, and endless support. ♥️
This is not goodbye, but simply see you later. Though you may not be with us in this moment, your love and presence will always remain in our hearts until we meet again.
