Ronald Ray Hutchings

Ron Hutchings, 82, passed away April 18, 2017. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lamar and Georgia Hutchings. Ron spent his teen-aged years in American Fork, Utah and was a member of the American Fork High school graduating class of 1953. After serving honorably in the Navy, Ron graduated from a technical college and moved to Las Vegas with his family. An avid sports fan and an excellent athlete, Ron participated in basketball, golf, and long distance running; but he excelled at softball. A third baseman for the Nevada Test Site Bears, his team won the State Championship two years in a row, qualifying them for the ISC World Fast Pitch Tournament. Ron was quick-witted and even-tempered. He enjoyed the company and companionship of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers; Larry and Donald; and by his daughter, Becky Manning. He is survived by his son, Michael; his daughter, Kay and her husband Warren Hafen; his grandchildren, Melissa, Cory, and Cassandra; his sisters, Susan Hutchings and Linda Wilson; and his many adoring nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be at 12 noon, Saturday May 6, at the LDS chapel on 6051 Dorrell Ln, Las Vegas, NV, 89131.
