Sadie Ruth Little

Sadie was born November 23, 1919 in Forest, Mississippi to Oliver & Birdie Turner. Her parents were farmers who raised 5 children on their farm. Sadie was the oldest of the five. She attended E.T. Hawkins Elementary High School in Forest, Mississippi. Where she graduated from High School.

Sadie loved and played basketball and was an excellent seamstress. Sadie was loved by many people even those she seldom saw, and those she came in contact with for the first time. Sadie married Reo James little in 1943 and to this union two children were born.

Sadie loved to cook and clean indoors. She didn’t care for gardening or any outside events. She confesses Christ as her Lord & Savio at an early age at Union Grove Baptist Church in Forest, Mississippi.

She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1956. She joined second Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Coleman. Later she united with Greater Evergreen M.B.C. under the late Rev. Nathaniel Whitney. She was employed at the Horseshoe Hotel until she retired in the early 1990’s. after her retirement, Sadie relaxed and enjoyed her family.

Sadie leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter Elaine Washington (Louis) 1 grandson Darrell Millender, 2 nieces La Vaul Griffin, Glinda Viverett, 2 nephews Bernard Griffin(Donna) Alvin Griffin (Debbie) special grand-nephew LaTeef Griffin, Bonus grandchildren: Denise Kelly (Ricky) Elaine Harrison (Verdell) Louis Washington Jr. (Robin) in Ocean Spring, Mississippi, Elnora Washington, Charles Washington & Elliot Washington Las Vegas, NV, 1 play daughter Ruby Williams (Willie), special friend Nancy Johnson and a host of bonus nieces and nephews.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents Oliver & Birdie Turner, son James Lamar Little, 3 brothers William Turner, A.W. Turner, R.J. Turner, 1 sister Lula Mae Griffin and many friends.

A visitation for Sadie will be held Friday, July 11, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A funeral service will occur Friday, July 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A committal service will occur Friday, July 11, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 Las Vegas Blvd N, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
