Thomas Fay Wellman

Tom Wellman, age 69, passed away of natural causes at his home in Las Vegas on January 14, 2025. As an awesome educator, Tom spent more than 32 years in the Clark County School District. Tom’s professional career included teaching at the junior and senior high school levels and serving his last 27 years as a school counselor. Tom touched those around him with great humility and dedication.

In working with his students and their parents, he brought his unique perspective and knowledge to help his students move into the future. Tom was passionate when it came to helping his students navigate post high school plans by spending numerous hours working with them to complete college applications or explore job opportunities. He was also an avid champion for teachers. He assumed many leadership positions in the teachers’ union at the local, state and national levels where he was well known. At the time of his passing he was still diligently working on legislation that will affect future educators. He is survived by his brothers Jack, Doug (Anita), nieces Kylie and Jessica and their families. The service will be held Saturday, May 3, in Las Vegas at Palm Northwest. Donations in memory of Tom can be made to Central Michigan University and University of Nevada, Las Vegas general scholarship funds.
