Proverbs 31:25
Born on March 18, 1954, in Manila, Philippines, Trinidad was the daughter of Gregorio Pinachos Sr. and Damiana Delos Santos. She was the eighth of nine children and the youngest among the girls. Affectionately called “Tina” by family and countless friends, she had fond memories of growing up, so much so that, until her final moments, she could not help but speak enthusiastically of her mother’s resourcefulness, of her father’s kindness, and of the vivid memories of her childhood Christmases — when her parents brought her new dresses, their house smelled of fresh paint, and everyone feasted upon grand noche buenas, all while listening to timeless Christmas carols.
Surrounded by the love and support of her parents and siblings, she steadfastly worked to grant her father’s wishes for her to get a college degree. In 1974, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Far Eastern University in Manila. Three years later, she married the love of her life, Roger Limun, and they were blessed with four children: Rommel, Rosette, Jeremy, and Jonalyn.
As is true for many Filipino parents demanding a better future for their children, Roger and Tina took turns working outside the Philippines as Overseas Contract Workers (OCWs). That meant they had to live apart for some time, as one worked abroad and the other took care of the kids back home. But that time spent physically apart only made them stronger, building a wonderful home and putting their children through school. Tina devoted her time and energy raising her children. She nourished and cared for them herself. And her children adored her. Tina’s talent for cooking also made every dish she prepared the sensation of any meal, gathering, or party.
True to her nurturing and caring disposition, Tina was passionate about nursing. She practiced for many years in Manila and later worked in the Middle East. Emigrating from the Philippines, she brought her passions and talents to America. Tina worked as a nurse in the the San Francisco Bay Area for two years and later in Nevada for almost a decade. At the TLC Care Center in Henderson, her last employer, she had been named Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year. The patients she cared for described her as a “jewel.”
Tina bravely battled her own illnesses, undergoing heart bypass in 2011 and a kidney transplant in 2014. But not once did she turn back. Tina enjoyed the gift of life. She helped raise her grandkids and was there for them and her children on every Christmas, Thanksgiving, and birthday. Her zest for life only increased as she traveled the world, visiting diverse locales from Iceland and Stockholm to Bologna and Florence. She saw the Holy Father at the Vatican.
Tina died on April 10, 2018, weeks after turning 64. In addition to her children, she is survived by her four grandchildren — Gabrielle, Micah, Noah, and Marco — all of whom meant the world to her, as well as by her eight siblings — Ernesto, Rogelio, Norma, Remedios, Antonio, Lilia, Manuel, and Gregorio Jr. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, Tina is now in her eternal home, together with the Almighty and the Blessed Virgin and re-united with Gregorio Sr., Damiana, and Roger.
