Born on March 15, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, Victor was the cherished son of Jack and Paula Gordon. At the age of five, his family relocated to California, where he spent most of his formative years alongside his siblings, Josslyn and David Gordon.
Victor’s early academic path reflected his deep passion for the arts. He began his college studies as an art major at UCLA, where his love for creativity and design took root. He later transferred to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. His education reflected both sides of who he was—artistic and analytical, imaginative yet precise.
Victor’s professional journey began in residential construction, where he worked as a superintendent. His career soon expanded into the industrial construction sector, where he built a reputation in the field of Project Controls. Over the decades, Victor contributed to major projects across the globe—from the Miller Brewery in Azusa, California, and Anheuser-Busch facilities in Van Nuys and Houston, to a steel mill in Buffalo, chemical plants for DuPont, and oil refineries and gas plants spanning from Louisiana to Saudi Arabia, and Alaska to Russia.
It was during his time working in Van Nuys in late 1979 that Victor met Demetria, the love of his life. The two were married on July 24, 1984, and built a life together grounded in laughter, partnership, and unwavering support. They worked side by side on various projects until Demetria stepped away from the field to raise their young family. Victor was a proud and devoted father to their two children, Corinne Gordon and Connor Gordon, who carry forward his spirit, imagination, and deep sense of kindness.
Through all his travels and professional endeavors, Victor valued the friendships he made around the world, and he maintained those connections throughout his life. To him, relationships were not just part of the job—they were part of his legacy.
Victor will be remembered most for his vibrant personality, quick wit, and boundless imagination. From the moment you met him, he had a way of making you laugh—whether it was with a corny joke, a quirky phrase, or simply his contagious laughter that could light up any room. His joy for storytelling was unmatched, often making up elaborate tales for his children on the spot—stories that have become cherished memories retold across generations.
He had a deep appreciation for the arts, from fine art to music of all kinds. Visits to museums and art exhibits were a beloved family tradition—often met with polite protest and theatrical groans from his children, which, over time, grew into treasured experiences and lasting memories. Victor’s passion for music stayed with him throughout his life. He could recognize a piece after just a few notes, and in his final days, it was music that brought him peace and comfort. Even as his mind became clouded by illness, melodies remained a steady anchor—soothing, familiar, and full of grace.
Ten years ago, Victor was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinson’s—a cruel and complex disease that slowly and relentlessly takes its toll. Known by many as “the long goodbye,” it is a journey marked by loss, confusion, and heartbreak—not just for the person afflicted, but for those who love them. Victor faced each stage of the disease with a quiet strength, and our family remained by his side through every turn, even when words failed and moments grew difficult to hold.
Because so little is still understood about Lewy Body Dementia, and in honor of Victor’s life and the battle he fought, our family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cleveland Clinic’s Keep Memory Alive initiative to support continued research into this devastating illness.

As we say goodbye, we hold tight to the joy Victor brought into our lives. He would want to be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his ability to make people laugh even in the hardest of times, and his generous heart. More than anything, he would remind us to find the fun where we can, to share a smile, and to never take life too seriously.
His laughter, his love, and his light will be deeply missed—and never forgotten.
